Event Recap: Squamish Nation Youth Powwow 2026

The Squamish Nation Youth Powwow took place over three days on the Capilano Reservation in North Vancouver, bringing together community members, dancers, drummers, and visitors to celebrate Indigenous culture and youth leadership.

Organized with strong involvement from Squamish Nation youth, the event attracted approximately 3,000 people over the weekend and featured competitive dancing in categories including Fancy Shawl, Jingle Dress, Grass, and Traditional.

A special moment during the weekend was the recognition of the 2026 Squamish Nation high school graduates. The community came together to honour their achievements and celebrate this important milestone as they look toward their futures.

CPABC staff were also on site with a booth, sharing educational and employment resources and information about community programming. The event provided a valuable opportunity to connect with youth, families, and community members while supporting young people as they explored future education and career pathways.

Indigenous vendors offered a variety of goods, including beadwork, clothing, and traditional foods, while community organizations shared resources and services available to youth and families.
