Are you ready to apply for membership? Based on your program of studies, please select the appropriate designation below:
CPA - CFE Passers
Effective August 11th, 2020; CFE Applications will require payment of the CPABC Application Fee as the final step in the Online Application process.
Applications received prior to August 11th, 2020 will have their application fees applied along with Membership Dues on their date of admittance.
Please ensure you have completed all of the following prior to submitting your membership application form. Please note: Membership applications with outstanding requirements or requirements in progress will not be processed.
- Completed the CPA Program Requirements
- Passed the Common Final Exam (CFE)
- Completed the Practical Experience Requirements (PER) (confirmation email received)
- Completed the required seven-hour Professional Development course Gateway to Membership: Welcome to the Pros [formerly You and Your Designation]
- Annual Student Fees (CPAWSB) must be paid for the current academic year

Newly admitted members going into Public Practice - please be aware that an application for a practice license must be made separately to the CPABC Public Practice department.
CPA, CGA - Legacy Students
Please ensure you have completed all of the following prior to submitting your membership application form. Please note: Membership applications with outstanding requirements or requirements in progress will not be processed.
- Completed the CGA Program Requirements
- Completed a Canadian Bachelors Degree (or equivalent) and have had your degree recorded with CPABC
- Completed the Practical Experience Requirement (PERC)
- CGA – Legacy Students must, before December 31 of the full calendar year following the year of admission to membership, attend CPABC’s in-person seminar “Gateway to Membership: Welcome to the Pros” or complete CPA Canada’s online course, “Essence of Professionalism: Ethics, Rules and Standards”.
- Annual Student Fees must be paid in the current academic year
Inter-Provincial Transfers (Members from other Provinces or Territories)
The CPA Act reserves the use of the titles “Chartered Professional Accountant” and “Professional Accountant” to CPABC members in good standing and registered firms.
To apply for Affiliate Membership with CPABC, please complete the Affiliate Membership Application form. The application consists of two documents: The Affiliate Application and Provincial Confirmation Forms.
Please ensure you have completed all of the following prior to submitting your membership application form. Please note: Membership applications with outstanding requirements or requirements in progress will not be processed.
- The Affiliate Application Form is to be completed in full by the Applicant and sent to cpabcapplications@bccpa.ca.
- The Provincial Confirmation Form is to be sent to all Provinces and/or Territories in which applicants are currently a member; to complete and return to CPA BC on your behalf.

Readmission to Membership in CPABC
Former members who apply for readmission to membership in CPABC because of resignation or cancellation will be required to meet the readmission requirements in force at the time of application.
This includes:
- Completion of Membership Readmission Form
- Payment of Outstanding Dues and Fees
- Reporting of Continuing Professional Development
- Two Canadian CPA Sponsors/References
- Review of any Prior Conduct History
- Satisfactory Evidence of Canadian Citizenship, Permanent Residency or Lawfully Permitted to Work in Canada.
- Review and Recommendation of the Membership Committee
Signature Requirements for All Membership Applications
CPABC requires an original signature from the Applicant as a part of the Character Declaration.
