Message from the CPAEF Board Chair
Martha Thomas, CPA, CA, Chair, CPA Education Foundation
I am truly honoured to be given the privilege to Chair the CPAEF for another year. This is a board of truly exceptional professionals who bring their passion and experience to support the advancement of excellence in accounting education in BC and provide key financial support to those in need.
As a Board, we value the importance of education in accounting as an integral part of the economic and social world in which we live and work. We appreciate the challenges that are felt by many who are working their way through the CPA program while managing work and family. Our goal is to help get students to “the finish line” – their CPA designation. Our awards program extends to institutions across the province as well as students at the CPA Western School of Business and over the past 10 years over $1 million has been distributed.
CPAEF also supports academic members with professional development events and research grants. As an academic I can attest to the value of these programs and the importance of enhancing educational opportunities for accounting faculty across the province.
I would like to thank all of our volunteers, our donors and the outstanding staff at CPABC for the ongoing support of our mission.
Martha Thomas, CPA, CA
