Pacific Northwest Chapter - Local Economic Development Series: Why Northwest BC is the Place to Be - Smithers
On August 14th, 2024 the Pacific Northwest Chapter held its third event of the year. CPA members attended a luncheon at the Roadhouse in Smithers. This was the first event in Smithers in several years and it was exciting to see a large turnout for this community.
The event was the third in a four-part Economic Development series planned for the Pacific Northwest. Jill Barrowman, Economic Development Officer for the Town of Smithers spoke on the initiatives underway in Smithers and the priorities being set out in the towns upcoming new strategic plan. The group conversation focused on the approaches being taken to address challenges around the airport, housing and daycare needs. These have been common themes we have seen across the northwest.
