Professional Development (PD) FAQs

Professional Development (PD) FAQs

We know that your PD needs are constantly evolving, so we always try to incorporate the most current topics and updates in our course offerings. As you build your career as a CPA, you can hone your technical competencies (e.g. tax, assurance, financial reporting) and enabling competencies (e.g. leadership, communication, decision-making), through many seminar and program options from the CPABC PD program.

We also want to equip our members with the skills to reach the top by offering a suite of executive programs, which are designed to support your transition into an executive role like Controller or CFO.

If you can’t make it to an in-person session, we also offer numerous online options.

Register easily and save with the PD Passport. With just one purchase of the passport, you, or a number of your colleagues, are entitled to 6 days’ worth of PD seminars.

The Personal Passport is designed for individual, designated CPABC members only, while the Flexi Passport is designed for company-wide training or group savings, and is fully transferable.

The Passport term runs from September and August each year. When you become a regular CPD reporter, be sure to purchase your passport before the early bird deadline in early September every year to ensure you receive the greatest savings.

Throughout the year we hold a number of conferences:

  • The CPABC Pacific Summit, a multi-day conference that provides an opportunity to learn about the latest practices, innovation, products, and services that can help you in your business and give you an edge over your competition. The scope of this conference is more general.
  • The PD Nexus Conferences are more focused, as we bring you topical themes, such as diversity and technology, to enhance your learning experience, most often in a one-day conference format.

Our conferences are not only a good place for learning, but also a good place to start building and maintaining your CPA network!
