Do I require a licence to provide bookeeping services?

While bookkeeping in itself does not require licensing. If you are preparing GST/PST, payroll, or any other statutory filing that is commonly associated with bookkeeping, then you would require a public practice licence.

Do I need a licence to provide public practice services if I am doing it for free?

I would like to volunteer to do taxes at the Volunteer Tax Clinic for low-income taxpayers in my neighborhood? Do I need to let CPABC know?

Remember, you must apply for this exemption each calendar year if you plan to participate in a volunteer tax preparation program every tax season!
