CPABC Chapter Role Overview

Role of CPABC Chapters

The goal of Chapters is to increase engagement of CPA members, candidates, and students locally, while promoting the CPA designation and profession. This is achieved through the valuable work of volunteers, taking on roles on the Chapter Planning Committee. The Chapter volunteers collectively:

  • Serve as an important link between local designated members, students and candidates and CPABC;
  • Facilitate networking opportunities tailored to meet the needs and interests of local members;
  • Support local community involvement that increases public awareness of the CPA profession and enhances the status of members, the Chapter, CPABC, and the CPA designation;
  • Provide forums for development of professional mentorships, career support and student academic support; and
  • Strengthen participation in Chapter events (in-person and virtual).

Benefits of Volunteering with a Chapter

Volunteering with a Chapter can be excellent preparation for future leaders. In addition, volunteering with a local Chapter will provide opportunities to:

  • Strengthen skills in leadership, planning, and communication;
  • Expand professional networks;
  • Build lasting relationships;
  • Share tips on passing CPA PEP exams and the CFE;
  • Help new CPA students and candidates find mentors;
  • Become a mentor yourself;
