Accessible Websites

UBC

Accessibility at UBC

The University of British Columbia is committed to making its websites usable by people of all abilities or with age-related limitations.

To meet this commitment, a new version (v.7.0) of the UBC CLF (Common Look and Feel) Web Tempate has been designed to be web accessible. The new UBC CLF meets WCAG 2.0. Improving accessibility within UBC websites is an ongoing process and efforts are being made to transition globally across the university.

CPA Ontario

Accessibility at CPA Ontario

CPA Ontario is committed to treating all people in a way that allows them to maintain their dignity and independence. We believe in integration and equal opportunity. We are committed to meeting the needs of persons with disabilities in a timely manner, and will do so by preventing and removing barriers to accessibility and meeting accessibility requirements under the Ontario government’s Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005.

The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 supports the establishment of an accessible Ontario by 2025. In working towards this goal, CPA Ontario’s policies, procedures and plans are consistent with the requirements of the Act. These will be reviewed and updated regularly as we make continuous improvements in our efforts to remove barriers and increase accessibility for persons with disabilities.

By law, in Ontario, new and significantly refreshed public websites must be accessible if they are:

  • a private or non-profit organization with 50+ employees; or.
  • a public sector organization.
  • Beginning January 1, 2021: all public websites and web content posted after January 1, 2012 must meet WCAG 2.0 Level AA other than criteria 1.2.4 (live captions) and 1.2.5 (pre-recorded audio descriptions)

I recently read that this date was extended to June 1, 2021.
