CPA Volunteer Spotlight: Saeed Sabeti, CPA, C.Mgr., MBA

Saeed Sabeti, CPA, C.Mgr., MBA, is a seasoned financial professional with 43-plus years of experience in corporate management, controllership, and consulting across public, private, and not‑for‑profit sectors. He has taught accounting and finance in Canada and Iran and continues to operate the accounting practice he founded in 2006. Now semi‑retired, he volunteers with CPABC’s Financial Literacy Program, helping individuals build practical financial confidence.

Saeed’s approach to financial literacy reflects a simple but powerful idea: When people understand how to manage their resources wisely, they are better prepared to support the well-being of their families, workplaces, and communities.

How has financial literacy impacted your life?

Saeed Sabeti

“Financial literacy has guided me through every major stage of my life—from immigrating to Canada, to raising a family, to leading financial operations in the corporate sector, and eventually opening my own practice. It also shaped the way I approach service and responsibility, helping me manage resources with care and integrity in both professional and community settings.”

Why is financial literacy important?

“It builds confidence, resilience, and independence. For youth and community members, understanding money equips them to make informed choices, avoid financial pitfalls, and plan for their futures. Strong financial literacy doesn’t just benefit individuals, it strengthens families and communities and contributes to the betterment of the world.”

What would you say to CPAs considering volunteering?

“Your knowledge can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life. Even small contributions have a lasting impact. I encourage CPAs to be proud of their designation and share their expertise—helping illuminate the path for others while reinforcing the public trust placed in our profession.”
