Notice of Bylaw Amendment: Repeal of CPABC Bylaw 501(6)

The Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia (CPABC) has approved amendments to its bylaws to phase out and repeal CPABC Bylaw 501(6), a transitional provision introduced in 2015 to facilitate the admission of Legacy International CGA Canada members who were not members of a provincial or territorial CPA body.

This amendment reflects the termination, effective April 1, 2026, of the agreement between CPABC and CPA Canada that supported this admission pathway. To provide affected individuals with sufficient time to apply, CPABC has adopted a transition period ending June 1, 2027, at which time Bylaw 501(6) will be repealed.

Legacy International CGA Canada members who wish to apply for CPABC membership under Bylaw 501(6) must submit their application no later than May 31, 2027. Applications received by that date will continue to be considered under the existing provision, including any decisions that remain outstanding after the application deadline.

Effective June 1, 2027, Bylaw 501(6) will be repealed. After that date, Legacy International CGA Canada members seeking admission to CPABC must meet the admission requirements applicable to all other applicants under CPABC's bylaws, unless they qualify under another available admission pathway.
