Experience is a core component of the CPA Professional Program and provides Learners with the opportunity to apply their learning in the workplace while developing the competencies, professional judgment, and professional behaviours expected of a CPA.
Effective January 1, 2027, Learners are required to complete foundational and professional experience, enabling them to develop competencies across a range of CPA training areas and progressively demonstrate increasing levels of proficiency.
Throughout their experience journey, Learners must follow an approved experience plan and be supported by CPA mentor employed within their organization who provides guidance and facilitates professional growth. Experience must be gained through relevant, paid employment and completed in accordance with the requirements of the CPA Professional Program Education and Experience Policies Western Region.
Together, these requirements help ensure Learners develop the knowledge, skills, and professional capabilities needed for CPA certification and success in their careers.
