Event Recap: Indigenous Member Forum
Date: October 22, 2025
Location: Zoom
CPABC hosted its Indigenous Member Forum on October 22, 2025, bringing together Indigenous members, candidates, and allies for a meaningful discussion on what it means to create positive impact in Indigenous communities. Participants reflected on the role of relationship‑building, trust, cultural awareness, and long‑term collaboration in defining and measuring impact. These shared insights will help guide CPABC’s ongoing reconciliation efforts and future programming.
The forum also included updates on several key initiatives supporting Indigenous learners, members, and communities. Highlights included:
- Accounts Payable Program (Pilot): Partnership with AFOA BC, MST ETS, and HFMI to support Indigenous job seekers entering entry‑level accounting roles.
- Indigenous Course for Members: A new PD course focusing on the Uniqueness of the BC Indigenous Environment, launching in 2026.
- Indigenous Financial Literacy Sessions: 23 sessions delivered this fiscal year to communities including Squamish Nation, Wet’suwet’en First Nation, Tsawwassen First Nation, and others.
- Indigenous Peoples Acknowledgment: CPABC’s public-facing Indigenous People’s Acknowledgment informed by forum member feedback, now being integrated into CPABC’s website with attention to visibility and best practices.
CPABC would like to thank the Indigenous Member Forum for their valuable insights and contributions in developing this acknowledgment.
