This workshop challenges common myths about dyslexia and replaces them with clear, evidence-informed facts. Participants will learn how dyslexia affects reading and writing, why early intervention matters, what effective instruction should include, and how accommodations can support access without lowering expectations. Designed for parents, caregivers, and educators, the session also provides practical questions and advocacy strategies participants can use in school meetings.

About the Speaker
Alexia Serratore, Outreach Coordinator, Dyslexia Canada
Alexia Serratore, M.Ed., holds a background in Developmental Psychology and Education and serves as Community Outreach Coordinator with Dyslexia Canada. She provides psychoeducation on dyslexia, evidence-based intervention, and accommodations, while also supporting families as they navigate an education system that can often feel opaque and overwhelming. Through Dyslexia Compass, Alexia works to bring clarity to that process by equipping families with evidence-based information and practical tools to advocate effectively for their children. Her work is grounded in the belief that every child deserves meaningful access to an equitable education.
