In order to resolve a disciplinary proceeding before a Panel of CPABC’s Disciplinary Committee concerning professional misconduct alleged against them, the Member has voluntarily cancelled their membership in CPABC (now a former member) and has agreed to the voluntary bar from applying for readmission to membership in the Organization of Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia (“CPABC”) for a period of at least six months, commencing on April 2, 2026.
The professional misconduct alleged against the Member (now former member) includes several breaches of the CPABC Code of Professional Conduct and CPABC Bylaws, including: engaging in Public Practice while not being licensed by CPABC to do so; engaging in Public Practice on behalf of a non-CPA firm in which they hold an ownership interest; on two occasions, issuing review financial statements to a third-party financial institution, signed by them, while not licensed by CPABC and without any professional liability insurance; lacking the competence to conduct review engagements; and lacking independence and objectivity while performing the review engagements.
The Member (now former member) has admitted to the above allegations that CPABC has made against them.
The Member (now former member) has agreed to pay a fine of $7,500.00 and pay $5,000.00 towards CPABC’s costs of the disciplinary proceedings.
As a former member, they cannot use or display the designations “Chartered Professional Accountant”, “Certified General Accountant”, “Professional Accountant”, the initials “CPA”, “CGA”, “CPA, CGA”, or “PA”, imply, suggest, or hold out that they are a Chartered Professional Accountant or Professional Accountant, or engage in providing or offering to provide public accounting services.
