The Canadian Public Accountability Board (CPAB) conducted an inspection of the audit practice of Dale Matheson Carr-Hilton Labonte LLP (the Firm) in 2023, which resulted in sanctions imposed on the Firm. The Firm failed to self-report CPAB’s actions to CPABC.
The Investigation Committee determined that the Firm contravened the following Rules of the CPABC Code of Professional Conduct:
102.3 - Matters to be reported to CPABC
201.1 - Maintenance of the good reputation of the profession
501 - Policies and procedures for compliance with professional standards
502 - Policies and procedures for the conduct of a practice
The Committee recommended that the Firm:
- accept a reprimand;
- pay a fine of $2,000;
- pay expenses of $752 plus GST of $37.60; and
- accept the publication of a notice of this Determination and Recommendation which identifies the Firm.
