A CPA Candidate pleaded guilty to a single count of simple assault under section 266 of the Criminal Code of Canada. As a result, the Candidate received a conditional discharge and was placed on probation for one year. Subsequently, the Candidate satisfactorily completed their probation and the Candidate received an absolute discharge by the Court.
The Investigation Committee determined that the Candidate contravened the following Rules of the CPABC Code of Professional Conduct:
201.1 - Maintenance of the good reputation of the profession
213 - Unlawful activity
The Investigation Committee recommended that the Candidate:
- accept a reprimand; and
- at the conclusion of their probation, provide the Director, Professional Conduct with written confirmation that the Candidate complied with the conditions of the probation order.
