While a student, the Candidate incorporated a firm which engaged in public practice. The Candidate asserted that they were unaware of Bylaw 405 which prohibits public practice by students. When they learned they must not be associated with a firm that engages in public practice, the Candidate ensured that the firm ceased engaging in public practice.
The Investigation Committee determined that the Candidate contravened Bylaw 405 of the Organization of Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia [Prohibition on Practice].
The Committee recommended that the Candidate:
- accept a reprimand; and
- pay partial investigation expenses of $840.
