When a client questioned a Firm billing, the Firm did not adequately and professionally communicate with the client.

The Investigation Committee determined the Firm contravened the following Rules of the CPABC Code of Professional Conduct:

201.1 - Maintenance of the good reputation of the profession
202.1 - Due care

The Investigation Committee recommended that a Statement of Complaint not be issued, on condition that the Firm ensured that each partner of the Firm attend and complete a practice management course acceptable to the Director, Professional Conduct. In making its recommendation, the Committee took into account the Firm’s representations that it subsequently improved its processes to prevent a recurrence of the event described here.
