UBC|Sauder Hosts 2020 Student Awards Night

Robert Helsley, Dean of the UBC|Sauder School of Business, hosted the annual UBC Sauder Student Awards Night on March 3, 2020.
 

This special event was a chance to recognize and thank donors, such as the CPA Education Foundation of B.C. among others, for their generous support of students.

The event was held in CPA Hall in the Henry Angus Building on the Vancouver campus of UBC (located on the ancestral and unceded land of the Musqueam people).CPA Hall. Photo by CPAEF.

The program included a student panel discussion, refreshments and time for donors like Hari Varshney FCPA FCA OBC and Mrs. Madhu  Varshney, pictured below, to mingle with students who have benefitted from their generous support of various awards.

Dr. Sandra Chamberlain CPA CA, the CPA Chair in Accounting and a faculty member in the Sauder School as well as governor of the CPAEF, along with David Chiang CPA CA, CPABC’s vice-president member advice and programs, were in attendance.CPABC fellow Hari Varshney FCPA FCA OBC and Mrs. Varshney attend UBC|Sauder Student Award Night. Said Chamberlain, “The foundation supports 11 student award totalling $20,000 per year.”  She added, “I’m delighted that the CPAEF has so generously supported my peers through various grants for faculty development and research support over the past several decades.”

The CPA Education Foundation of BC (CPAEF) would like to thank the members of the Fraser Valley Technology Forum (forum) for their generous donation of almost $7,400.  As directed, these funds will be used to support CPA students with bursary awards that have a technology focus.

CPAEF Bursary Deadline – November 15, 2020
The CPA Education Foundation offers bursaries to students in Preparatory Courses and the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP). Students in CPA Preparatory Courses can apply for a bursary if they have completed and passed at least two courses offered by the CPA Western School of Business (CPAWSB) in the preceding year. CPA PEP students can apply for a bursary once they are registered in CPAWSB Core Module 1 or the MPAcc. program at the University of Saskatchewan.
