Anne Kang, MLA for Burnaby-Deer Lake and the Chartered Professional Accountants of BC are hosting a free online CPA Financial Literacy Session for those who want to understand how credit works and how to take control of debt.

  • understand the difference between good debt and bad debt
  • the cost of debt, particularly bad debt and only making minimum payments
  • how payday loan companies operate and the cost of borrowing from them
  • understand how debt can pile up and how this can have negative consequences on future financial plans

About the Speaker: Andrew Smith CPA, CA
Andrew Smith started towards his CPA designation in 2001 at Vancouver Island University (Formerly known as Malaspina University College) and obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration in 2005.  He obtained his Chartered Accountants designation in 2009 while working at a small accounting firm on Vancouver Island.
In 2009 he moved to Vancouver and started working in the insolvency industry with a small boutique firm where he obtained his Insolvency designation and became a Licensed Insolvency Trustee in 2015. 

He currently works for a boutique insolvency firm in Surrey, BC helping consumer and corporate debtors find solutions for their financial situation. 

He enjoys playing hockey and curling in the winter, golf in the summer, hiking with his family and gardening.
